The
Broadway Centre Hammersmith
Owners: Hammersmith Shopping Centre
Limited
March 2004 to November 2009
The Broadway Centre is located in the heart of Hammersmith
and is situated on an island site bounded by Hammersmith Broadway
to the north and Talgarth Road to the south.
The Centre was developed in the early 1990s and is constructed
within a reinforced concrete frame clad in natural granite
and limestone.
The Shopping Centre forms an integral part of a major transport
interchange for West London with the Piccadilly and District
London Underground Lines accessed from the Centre and the
Hammersmith and City Line station within 50 yards. At first
floor there is the main West London Bus 24 hour Interchange,
offering in excess of 40 bus routes and 286 bus movements
per hour. When this is added to the tube passengers, the Centre
is one of the busiest in the UK with over 40 million visitors
each year.
The Centre comprises 6,150 sq. metres of retail space with
46 retail tenants. The mall runs north to south, with two
entrances leading to and from the Underground, escalator access
to the Bus station, and further access to all to the roads
surrounding the island site. The major retail tenants include
Tesco Metro, McDonalds, Boots and Starbucks, with emphasis
on providing a retail and food offer for both the transit
and destination shopper.
The site ownership includes three self contained office buildings
of 43,700 sq. metres, which are situated above the retail
shopping mall. They are let on long leases to Disney and Coca
Cola corporations as their European Head Offices.
