Cornmill Centre bags top industry award...
Darlington's Cornmill Shopping Centre is celebrating winning a prestigious industry award for its work towards maintaining a quality shopping environment for customers and tenants alike.
Susan Young, centre manager at the Cornmill, was awarded the Centre Manager of the Year Award for 2010 by Plus Shops, a centre of excellence for shopping centre management.
The 220,000 sq ft Cornmill centre, whose tenants include Next, HMV and New Look, has an annual footfall of 6.5 million, and 2011 is already looking to be another successful year for Susan and the team, having welcomed two new retailers in the past few weeks alone.
Susan Young says that the award is down to the efforts of the 23 strong team at Cornmill. She commented: "It's a real privilege to have received the Plus Shops Centre Manager of the Year award, which pays testament to the hard work and dedication of the whole team here at the centre. Last year was a fantastic year for the Cornmill the highest footfall figures since 2002. 2011 has also got off to a strong start with new tenants adding to the vibrant mix here at the centre, and an exciting programme of events guaranteed to offer our customers that extra special shopping experience."
